10 days of events with over 100 artists, all Italian premieres, two World premieres and three European premieres, which show everything that can be done with dance and through dance today.

The map of the Biennale Danza 2021 is divided into seven steps/acts: the live performances with choreographers and companies from around the world, the multilingual installations, the Biennale College, the rich production of films about and featuring dance, the collaborations among the disciplines within La Biennale itself, the conversations with the artists and the commissions for new dance.

Among  the artists present at the Festival, witnesses of a live performance scene that has no borders, resonant with the forms and content of the world, there will be: Hervé Koubi, the French-Algerian choreographer with his multi-ethnic company and the Jewish-Egyptian vocalist Natacha AtlasSoon-ho Park and Bereishit Dance Company from South Korea; Marco D’Agostin from Italy; Americans Pam Tanowitz – dancer and choreographer - and Simone Dinnerstein, pianist, accompanied by Pam Tanowitz DanceOlivier de Sagazan, the French artist from Brazaville; the Basque dancer Iratxe Ansa who with Igor Bacovich from Italy form Metamorphosis, based in Madrid; the artistic collective (La)Horde, with Marine Brutti, Jonathan Debrouwer and Arthur Harel who has been the head of the Ballet national de Marseille for a year, in Venice together with Rone, a champion of the French electronic scene; Oona Doherty from Northern Ireland and Germaine Acogny from Senegal.

Moreover Mikhail Baryshnikov and Jan Fabre, Wilkie Branson, Random International and Wayne McGregor himself, create three experimental installations that will be visible for the entire duration of the Festival.

Thus, this year, the 15th International Festival of Contemporary Dance will intersect with the places and times of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition. With the installations Not OnceTom and Future Self  which will be shown inside the Exhibition for the duration of the Festival under the title Embodied Action. And with the dancers-choreographers from the Biennale College, who will create short choreographic fragments inspired by the signs, materials, content and themes of the 17th Exhibition. Their solo performances – Solos in Architecture Biennale – will be presented at the Arsenale in the section of the Exhibition titled Amongst Diverse Beings.

Finally the audience will have the possibility to partecipate to some workshops with the artists

The 65th International Festival of Contemporary MusicChoruses – Drammaturgie vocali  will run from 17-26 September 2021, directed by Lucia Ronchetti

Choruses is a wide-ranging festival that is an invitation to a sort of “listener’s pilgrimage” through historic places and theatres – from the Arsenale (Tese, Sale d’Armi, Piccolo Arsenale) to the Basilica di San Marco, the Teatro La Fenice, the Teatro Malibran, the Auditorium Lo Squero at the Fondazione G. Cini and the Conservatorio B. Marcello to the Teatro Parco Bissuola in Mestre.

Concerts, sound installations, experimental performances, vocal happenings, a processional opera and a chamber musical theatre work will present the many facets of the voice in contemporary creativity, from the monumental choral works of the past decades to the dramaturgical explorations of the most recent vocal production

The Festival will feature important Venetian choral ensembles along with some of the most representative choral and vocal ensembles in Europe, and composers from different generations who have created important vocal and choral a cappella works, vocalists and performers from different musical traditions, sound artists who integrate the voice into their sound projects. The young composers and performers selected by the Biennale College will compose new works in the diverse forms of composition represented in the festival.

Finally encounterslectures and Lezioni di Musica in collaboration with Rai Radio3 serve to highlight the relationship between the Venetian vocal musical tradition and the contemporary age.
