Venice International Film Festival

The 76th Venice International Film Festival, directed by Alberto Barbera and organised by La Biennale di Venezia, will take place at Lido di Venezia from August 28th to September 7th, 2019: 11 days of screenings, retrospectives, and opportunities to see the protagonists of the film world.

Alessandra Mastronardi will open the Venice Film Festival on the evening of Wednesday August 28th, for the inaugural ceremony on the stage of Sala Grande (Palazzo del Cinema at Lido), and will lead the closing ceremony on September 7th, during which the Lions and other official prizes will be assigned by the jury chaired by the Argentinian director Lucrecia Martel.

This year, the actress Julie Andrews has been awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement and Pedro Almodóvar will receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement for directors.

The program of the Festival will be available online on La Biennale di Venezia’s website at the beginning of August.
